Admission For Law For The Academic Year 2024-2025

BA.LLB.( 5year Degree Course)

The Goa University shall conduct Goa University – Common Law Admission Test (GU-CLAT) 2024 for admissions to the B.A.LL.B. Programme for the Academic Year 2024-25.

The GU-CLAT 2024 shall be conducted based on the following:

1. Eligibility:
(a) Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (12th Standard) Examination of Goa Board of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination recognized by Goa University in any stream of knowledge with a minimum of 45% marks (40% marks in case of SC/ST applicants and 42% for OBC applicants) shall be eligible for admission to the First Year B.A.L.L.B. Programme provided the candidate appears at the GU-CLAT 2024.

NOTE: Students awaiting their H.S.S.C results can also apply for GU-CLAT 2024-25.

2. Admission Criteria:
The Merit list shall be drawn based on performance at H.S.S.C. and GU-CLAT 2024. There shall be 50% weightage for the marks scored at the H.S.S.C. Examination and 50% weightage for the marks scored in the GU-CLAT 2024.

In-case candidates secure equal marks on merit lists (HSSC+ GU-CLAT), GU-CLAT marks shall be considered for breaking the tie.

3. Filling up of the Online Application Form for GU-CLAT:

a) The LAST DATE for submission of applications is 13 May 2024.

b) Digital copy of Passport size photograph, signature and H.S.S.C. Marksheet are required to be uploaded in the online Application Form.

c) Candidates are advised in their own interest to apply online much before the closing date and not wait till the last date for applying/payment of application fee to avoid the possibility of disconnection/inability/ failure to log on to the website on account of heavy load on the website.

d) Goa University does not assume any responsibility to candidates in case they are unable to submit their application by the last date on account of the aforesaid reasons or for any other reason beyond the control of the University.

e) Printout of the application form is NOT REQUIRED to be submitted to the University.

Application Fees (Non-refundable) (To be paid online through GUMS portal only):

● INR 500 in case Un-reserved/ EWS/OBC. *
● INR 250 in case of SC/ST of Goa. *
● No fees shall be charged from Persons with Disability.

*Candidates applying for admission under these categories shall be required to submit a valid certificate to that effect issued by the Officer of the rank of the Deputy Collector or any other authorized Officer as notified by the Government of Goa.

4. GU-CLAT 2024
The GU-CLAT 2024 shall be of One Paper of 100 marks, containing 100 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) of 1 mark each. There shall be no negative marking. No marks shall be deducted for unanswered questions. The duration of the Test shall be 90 minutes.

5. Admission Process:
The merit list based on GU-CLAT 2024 and HSSC marks shall be declared by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa (DHE).

In addition to the application for GU-CLAT Test, the candidates must apply on E-Samarth Portal (DHE) for Admission to the B.A.LL.B Programme.

The process of allotment of seats at the respective Colleges based on the preference of the candidate shall be carried out by The DHE, Porvorim – Goa.

Important Notes:

(a) Candidates are required to check their e-mail regularly as all communications shall be sent through emails only. The University shall not be responsible for incorrect email ID being furnished by the candidate or absence of follow up action due to not accessing of emails.

(b) Admit card shall be available for download on the GUMS Portal from 5:00 P.M on 20th May 2024.

(c) In case candidate(s) have furnished any false/incorrect information, particularly in respect of marks secured at the H.S.S.C./XII Examinations while submitting their application for admission, THEIR CANDIDATURE FOR ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAMME SHALL STAND CANCELLED.
